Spring/Summer Newsletter 2007!

Dear Students and Parents,

It’s hard to believe that another school year has almost passed and that summer vacation is just around the corner. However, before we relax and start to enjoy the ‘lazy’ days of summer, there are still a few things left to finish up in Flute Land!!!

STUDENT RECITAL

As you all know, this year’s student recital is fast approaching. Rehearsals for the recital will take place on Sunday, June 10th at Bloor West Music Studio, located at 2352A Bloor Street West, in between Jane and Runnymede. The studio is beside Book City and is above The Bagel Shop. I also teach at the studio, and they have been very gracious to let us use the studio space for our rehearsal.

The recital accompanist this year is Irene Wong-Montgomery. I have played with Irene in the past, and we are very fortunate to have such a wonderful pianist play with us. There is plenty of work that goes into playing a recital. Besides the rehearsal and (of course!!) the recital, there is the time to learn all of the music!! I am asking each student to please bring $15 to the rehearsal to help pay the accompanist fee.

The Recital is on Saturday, June 16th at 2pm. Please try to arrive a few minutes early to allow everyone time to find a seat and let the students warm-up! The recital will take place at 720 Mount Pleasant Road, at The Briton House Retirement Centre, in the Recital Hall.

Next Year!

I know it’s hard enough to plan a week, or even a month in advance, but lesson times are already starting to fill up for next Fall. If you know your schedule, or the day and time you’d like for flute lessons, please contact me as soon as possible to arrange your lessons. Lesson times are on a first come first served basis, so please call me as soon as you can to avoid any disappointment. You can also fill out and bring the lesson time request form (available by e-mail for new students or at your lesson for current students) to me at the next lesson.

I’d like to thank all of my students for all of their hard work and dedication this year. You have all worked extremely hard, and should all feel great about your progress. GREAT WORK!!! I am looking forward to hearing you play at the recital.

I’d also like to thank all of the parents for all of their hard work, hours spent driving and dedication to helping your child practice. Music is such an important part of a child’s development, and has such an impact on everything they do. I remember my Mom and Dad driving across the city for me growing up, just so I could have lessons with great teachers. It made all of the difference in my playing, and teaching, and I am still thankful for that every day.

Thank you EVERYONE for making this a great year. I’m already planning for next year, and am looking forward to creating more exciting and fulfilling flute music with you!!!

HAVE A GREAT SUMMER!!
See you in September!!
